We are now on the island of Koh Samui. The weather here has been poor recently, but today was a very nice day from 11am onward.
Lindsay and I rented a scooter again and ripped around the island for the first half of the day. We were trying to find a beach...I know, you're thinking, "you're on an island the size of Prince George - how can you NOT find a beach?!?!" Trust me...it's harder than you think! None of the roads parallel the water, so you have to find back alleys to take you there, or go through a resort to get there.
On Saturday morning - around 5 am - I, Mike, woke up with an incredible migraine, and started puking. We went to the hospital, where I was hooked up on an IV for 30 hours being given electrolytes, antibiotics, and a whole slew of other drugs. It was not a fun day, but I feel OK now. Mom, can you phone Dr. Murray and book me in for an appointment the first day we're back? That would be Monday, December 14th...and yes...Lindsay and I would love to have you pick us up at the airport on Sunday at 10am!
We think I was dehydrated and had a stomach infection, but I think I also have a bug in me...this is ridiculous...
Lindsay's puking - FYI Courtney - we believe was because her first climb was very nerve wracking - the Thai guy was not giving her his utmost attention, making her very nervous.
I got new board shorts, am growing a beard, and have decided that ALL Asians have improved their driving by the time they get to Canada...yes...ALL...
Lindsay just had a pedicure, got new shorts, shirt, sarong, and is growing her nails - I am very proud of her! She plans on coming back with nicely manicured nails.

Mike, we are very sorry to hear about your stomach problems!!! Sure glad you have each other to help. It will be interesting to find out what you think of the hospitals over there. Probably didn't matter as long as you were beging looked after. I hope it improves so that you can really enjoy the rest of your trip.
ReplyDeleteLindsay keep those nails growing....
We are in the midst of schools, and it is a little crazy, very long days. But, we are having fun being in the choir. The concerts are this weekend. We have our Christmas lights up now. It's to bad Mike wasn't here to help us
Love you guys. Please take care. (and I was worried about N1H1 !!!) We'll keep praying
I throughly approve of the nail growing, am very jealous of the pedicure and completely understand the first climb/not so attentive spotter nervousness. Coupled with all that cooking class curry I guess it's not a surprise you threw up! Mike I am so sorry you're having such a hard stomach time - you guys are being super careful with the water, right? You use bottled water even to brush your teeth? Alber recommends skipping the pineapple as that's what sent him to the bathroom for a day or two when he was there! Well, all the best - I hope it can only get better from here!
ReplyDeletelots of love and miss you both
Courtney and Alber
Hi Mike & Lindsay - have noted all of your posts and it sounds like despite al of your health set-backs you are squeezing in a good time. It wil be nice for you to be home for Christmas. Just don't bring any "bugs" back to your family and friends - that happens sometimes. All the best. >Lyn and Ken< GM & GP Stofer
