Today we sat on the beach basically from 9-4 - it was nice, but a lot of sun. We have been trying to stay in the shade as much as possible (we have umbrellas), and drink as much water as we can (bottled water - EVERY place here has bottled water - we think all the locals drink it too).
Mike's stomach is doing much better, although he still has mild stomach and head pains. I don't think it's anything serious, but it does slow him down at times, allowing me to outsmart him and win many card games :)
While on the beach we had another massage - it was nice! We both got oil massages, which is basically what you would expect anywhere in Canada - they have to specify, however, what kind of massage you are getting - you pay a different price for oil, Thai, head and shoulder, foot, etc. massages. Our oil massages were 300 Baht each - that is about $10.
We have made contact with Tyler Crawford in Vancouver, who is graciously going to host us for a day when we return (Dec 12th). That night, coincidently, but not planned, is a Canucks game. And yes...Mike and Tyler are going :) I am going to stay at Tyler's house with his wife Rae and maybe watch a movie and go to bed early.
We also went to Pizza Hut tonight. You would think that being in Thailand would mean that we would be eating lots of the cheaper Thai food - this is wrong thinking. You can only have so many noodles, rice, curry, and fish and oyster sauce - Mike has actually been on a North American diet for a couple weeks now, only occassionally eating Thai food.
We are both SUPER excited for Christmas. I am going to get home and immediately set to work decorating the house and putting a job list together for Michael of all the decorating and lights that he will need to do. Heather, I hope you still have room for making some more Christmas baking! I am currently craving triple-decker squares.
In a couple minutes we will be back in our room drinking alcohol we purchased at 7-Eleven, eating chocolat, and watching TV and playing games for Massages. Mike currently owes me 7 minutes in massages - it was a 4 game back-and-forth battle last night for those 7 minutes!
We love you all!

Hi Mike & Lindsay...
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures! I'm glad you're taking the time to enjoy all those massages because womehow when you get home, they don't happen often enough!
At our house the lights are up but no decoraating yet. Erin S. pretty much has my baking done - seeing you weren't here to do it this year, Lindsay. I am spoiled but somehow baking just doesn't fit in as easily any more.
I think I can count on two hands the number of classes I need to teach before Christmas yet, which is nice - the last one being Dec 13! Shopping - not done yet and I must say I could shop forever if it involved things for Jace!
Where do you head to from this island? I take it that you are staying in Thailand the complete time. Anyway, enjoy your vacation, and Mike,it looks like Lindsay has more colour than you.
We love you and take care.
xoxo mom & dad R
Well, so glad Mike is feeling a bit better and that you're making the most of the trip. What's next?
ReplyDeleteYou will definetely be busy when you get back, but that will be fun. I haven't got much decorating done here really but we're leaving for Almansa the 23rd of Dec and wont be back until the 10th of Jan so there isn't really a lot of point. Also, I don't want to do tons of baking just to haul it all there on the train. We're going back for a long weekend the first week of Deceomber though so I hope to get the place a little more Christmassy then and fill our tiny little freezer with various goody essentials!
As for your return, I'll be surprised if Mike makes it back home awake after that hockey game - you always step off the plane feeling fine and then it hits a couple of hours later....
Anyway, love you lots - sorry I missed you on Facebook today! Can't wait to talk to you!
